Our Stainability commitment

This year, our school has made the decision to work towards Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

With the world beginning to experience the effects of climate change - from different species of plants and animals becoming extinct, to micro-plastics being found in the most remote locations on Earth- now, is the time to take action. The Eco-schools programme empowers young people to create positive change by taking a lead on environmental actions and projects in their school and local community.

We have chosen to focus on encouraging biodiversity, improving our school grounds and reducing energy. We have several groups of children helping us to achieve this, including the Eco Committee, Gardening club, Power police and friends with the wild. They have carried out several projects, including making bird feeders, turning off lights, fundraising, planting tress, and growing fruit and flowers. Each class has also had the opportunity to help: Class1 has been gardening in their allotment, Class 2 made bug hotels, and class 3 has been fighting Climate Change.

We  have also worked towards achieving our Ocean Friendly School award from the Marine Conservation Society. To achieve this, Class 3 raised awareness of climate change and the effect on seas and oceans. They then steps towards saving energy around school through assemblies, school displays, persuasive speeches, posters and a range of other energy saving ideas.
